In my opinion the role of painting is not trying to compete with the new media by means of more and more spectacular looking works. It is much more interesting to plug into small and personal work. To examine, with the recent art history as a starting point, where there is space left to expand earlier developments. The acceptance of this position of painting gives me the freedom and space to further developing my work. De rol van de schilderkunst is m.i. niet om d.m.v. steeds spectaculairder ogende werken te proberen de concurrentie aan te gaan met de nieuwe media. Veel interessanter is het om in te steken op klein en persoonlijk werk. Met de recente kunstgeschiedenis als uitgangspunt te onderzoeken waar de ruimte ligt en voort te borduren op eerder begonnen ontwikkelingen. De acceptatie van die positie van de schilderkunst geeft mij de vrijheid en ruimte mijn werk verder te ontwikkelen.
